Tour Itinerary

Your Journey, Day by Day

Discover a thoughtfully curated tour itinerary featuring iconic attractions, enriching sightseeing, remarkable destinations, and seamless travel experiences.

Meet your private representative on arrival in Chennai and transfer comfortably to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, begin with an introductory city tour featuring the Kapaleeshwarar Temple area, St George’s Fort or the Government Museum, subject to opening hours. Chennai offers a compelling first glimpse of Tamil culture, from traditional temple architecture to lively streets and elegant colonial influences. The remainder of the day is at leisure to rest after your journey or enjoy a relaxed evening in the city.

Travel south along the coast to Mahabalipuram, the celebrated Pallava port city. Explore the Shore Temple, the enormous open-air relief known as Arjuna’s Penance and the remarkable monolithic Five Rathas, whose forms reveal the experimentation of early Dravidian architecture. Continue to Pondicherry, where tree-lined boulevards, pastel façades and former French quarters create a distinctive atmosphere. After checking in, enjoy a guided walk through the heritage district and along the seafront before a leisurely evening.

Spend the morning discovering more of Pondicherry at an unhurried pace. Visit the Sri Aurobindo Ashram area, browse local boutiques or explore the French Quarter’s villas and quiet lanes with your guide. Later, drive inland through the fertile landscapes of the Cauvery Delta towards Thanjavur, an important centre of Chola art and culture. On arrival, settle into your hotel and, time permitting, visit the Royal Palace complex or enjoy a calm evening before the next day’s temple visit.

Begin with the Brihadisvara Temple, the crowning achievement of Chola architecture and one of India’s great historic temples. Admire its soaring vimana, detailed sculpture and enduring ritual life with the assistance of your local guide. You may also visit the Thanjavur Royal Palace and its art collections before continuing by private vehicle to Madurai. The changing scenery reveals rural Tamil Nadu, with rice fields and village life along the route. Arrive in Madurai for an evening at leisure.

Explore Madurai, one of Tamil Nadu’s oldest continuously inhabited cities. Visit the Meenakshi Amman Temple, celebrated for its vast complex, colourful gopurams and richly ornamented halls; access to particular areas follows local temple regulations. Continue to the elegant Thirumalai Nayak Palace, then wander through the historic streets and markets surrounding the temple quarter. Your guide can suggest suitable places for a traditional South Indian meal or an evening temple experience, depending on the day’s programme and local timings.

Enjoy a relaxed final morning in Madurai, with time for breakfast, last-minute shopping or a short optional visit arranged around your departure schedule. Your private driver will transfer you to Madurai Airport or the railway station for your onward journey. If you are extending your travels, the day can instead be adapted for a later departure or an additional local experience. Your six-day Tamil Nadu journey concludes with memories of monumental temples, historic cities and the warmth of South Indian hospitality.
