Arrive in Hyderabad, where your private representative and chauffeur will assist with your transfer to the hotel. Depending on your arrival time, begin with a gentle introduction to the city, perhaps exploring the area around Charminar, Mecca Masjid and the lively old-city bazaars. Alternatively, visit a palace or museum that reflects Hyderabad's distinctive Nizam-era history. The evening is free to relax after your journey or enjoy the city's celebrated blend of royal, Persian and South Indian culinary traditions.
After breakfast, transfer to Hyderabad airport for your flight to Bengaluru, followed by a private road transfer to Mysore. The journey introduces you to the changing landscapes of southern India, from the urban bustle of Karnataka's capital to the greener surroundings of the Mysore plateau. On arrival, settle into your accommodation and enjoy an unhurried evening. If time and energy permit, take a first walk through the heritage centre or explore the local market, known for sandalwood products, silk and regional sweets.
Spend the day exploring Mysore's elegant royal character with your private guide. Visit the magnificent Mysore Palace and learn about the Wadiyar dynasty, then continue to a prominent hilltop temple or another selected heritage site according to your interests. The old city offers opportunities to browse traditional markets and sample local specialities. Your itinerary can remain flexible, allowing time for photography, a leisurely lunch or a relaxed afternoon at the hotel before an evening departure into the quieter landscapes south of Mysore.
Leave Mysore and travel towards Bandipur, entering a protected forest corridor where dry woodland, open grassland and rocky hills create a striking change of scenery. A wildlife drive can be arranged, subject to park regulations and availability, offering the chance to observe the region's varied birdlife and animals in their natural setting. Continue through the Nilgiri hills to Coonoor, a cooler retreat surrounded by tea estates. Arrive in the afternoon or evening and enjoy the calm atmosphere of this hill station.
Set out from Coonoor for a scenic overland journey towards Valparai. The route descends from the Nilgiris and crosses into the lush Western Ghats, with changing vegetation, winding roads and expansive valley views along the way. Break the journey at suitable viewpoints or local cafés, depending on road conditions and your preferred pace. Valparai is a peaceful highland destination surrounded by tea plantations and rainforest, offering a more secluded contrast to the better-known hill stations. Spend the evening enjoying its fresh mountain air.
Continue through the Western Ghats from Valparai towards Athirappilly, following a route rich in forest scenery and dramatic changes of elevation. The journey may include pauses at viewpoints and short walks where conditions allow. On arrival, visit the Athirappilly waterfall area, where broad cascades plunge through dense tropical greenery. The setting is especially atmospheric during or after the monsoon, although access and walking conditions vary seasonally. Settle into your accommodation and enjoy an evening surrounded by Kerala's rainforest landscapes.
Travel onwards to Alappuzha, leaving the forested interior for Kerala's coastal plains and waterways. After checking in, enjoy a private backwater experience by traditional-style boat or another suitable arrangement, gliding past coconut palms, rice fields and village life along the canals. The pace is deliberately unhurried, with time to appreciate the changing light and the gentle rhythm of the waterways. Your evening can be spent beside the lagoon or at your accommodation, preparing for the final transfer to Kochi.
After breakfast, travel by private vehicle from Alappuzha to Kochi. Subject to your departure schedule, there may be time for a short introduction to Fort Kochi, with its colonial streets, waterfront views and historic trading heritage. You can also arrange an extension in Kochi for additional sightseeing, shopping or a final Kerala meal. Your chauffeur will transfer you to the airport or another onward destination, concluding a private journey that links Hyderabad's history with the forests, hills and waterways of southern India.
